Shark

2015, 13x30.5x15cm

Sculptural Oil Painting

A pleasant joke from an aspiring YWA.

Featured in Vice Magazine’s 'The Creators Project,' this is both a comedic parody of Hirst’s piece The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living, which went cloudy, and a commentary on the use of varying materials. My shark has a very ‘anigarumi'd’ or cartoony nature and features a speech bubble. The piece is a humorous take on the sentiment of Hirst’s original work, the main point being that mine won’t go cloudy, as it is constructed of paint, and components like the speech bubble can be added and won’t look out of place, as all elements in the piece are composed of the same material.
